Courses to level up client co-design

I build one-off pieces and spend 3–4 hours in the first client session, sketching in Fusion 360 and making quick foam-core mockups to lock proportions. Any continuing-ed programs or workshops that sharpen client interviewing, prototyping, and turning feedback into build-ready drawings — bonus if they touch pricing/change orders or incorporate tools like Shaper Origin?

IDEO U’s “Insights for Innovation” is great for sharpening interviews and turning feedback into specs; I pair it with a one-page “decision log” after each client session so changes become priced line items — saves me from playing telephone with future‑me. For Shaper-specific workflow, the Fusion‑to‑Origin sessions on their Learn page are practical: https://www.shapertools.com/en-us/learn. Do you want online only or would an in‑person weekend work?

Building on @evelyn53’s “decision log,” LUMA Institute’s Practitioner Certification tightened my interviews/synthesis, and I added a 10‑minute “preflight” at the end of session one to write three decision statements plus a unit‑priced change‑order sheet, then export SVGs from Fusion for Shaper. Have you tried Fusion user parameters so late tweaks auto‑ripple to your Shaper‑ready profiles?

I got a lot of mileage from NN/g’s ‘User Interviews’ (User Interviews | NN/g Training Course - NN/G) to tighten discovery — UX flavored, but it translates well to turning client talk into buildable constraints. Before I open Fusion, I run a 5‑minute must/should/wish dot‑vote on features and proportions, then snap a photo with rough price ranges so later tweaks trigger a clean delta quote instead of a headache. If you’re using Shaper Origin, Shaper Sessions have good workflow bits, though they’re light on pricing.

Yestermorrow’s Project Management clarified pricing/change orders; add Shaper Learn (https://www.shapertools.com/learn) and finish your ‘3–4 hours’ with a scope lock.
