And cross-docking saved us linehaul costs, but only when vendors sent 100% clean ASNs with SSCC labels — otherwise , the dock turns into a traffic jam, so we adopted a “no ASN, no dock” rule. We now stock the top 30 casegoods in two regional DCs and cross‑dock the long tail, which cut split deliveries about 25% and shaved about 3 days off lead time; @RileyLogistics pushed this with a few simple WMS checks and it stuck. If your team’s training up, have receivers audit labels at the bay, not in the aisle — anyone else running this hybrid?

Cross-dock only worked after we enforced “no-touch pallets” and 30-min dock appointments, @Ravi; holiday peaks still justify one micro-DC.
