I’ve been diving deeper into custom furniture design lately, and I realize how crucial it’s to truly understand a client’s vision. For instance, I recently collaborated with a couple who wanted a unique dining table that would reflect their travels. It was a fantastic experience bringing their ideas to life, but I wonder how others overcome challenges in managing client expectations. What strategies have you all found effective when developing one-of-a-kind pieces?

I totally get it — managing client expectations is key. Last year, I used mood boards to visually align on designs before starting the project. It helped clarify what they were envisioning for their one-of-a-kind table, but I’d still say regular check-ins during the process are essential to keep everyone on the same page.
