Reviving vintage chairs with upholstery

I just finished restoring a pair of 1950s dining chairs, and it got me thinking about the different fabrics we can use for projects like these. I ended up going with a boucle for texture and durability, but I’m curious what others prefer when it comes to mixing materials. Definitely a fun challenge to breathe new life into old pieces.

I totally get the struggle of picking the right fabric — , it’s not easy! I recently used a blend of cotton and linen for some vintage armchairs, which worked well because it added breathability without sacrificing durability. I found that mixing in a bit of a synthetic fabric helped with wear and tear too.

, finding the right fabric can be such a pain — i recently reupholstered a set of chairs with a mix of velvet and cotton canvas, and it turned out beautifully. But I wonder if the durability will hold up over time. Have you considered adding a foam layer for extra comfort?

I recently restored a couple of mid-century chairs and found that using a thicker batting under the fabric really helped add both comfort and visual depth. Have you considered how that might change the overall feel of your chairs, @hlucas90?
