I’m currently working on a Victorian sideboard that has seen better days. I want to preserve the original finish as much as possible, but I’m curious about which techniques are best for cleaning without damaging the wood. Has anyone here used solvent-based cleaners successfully, or are there safer alternatives that won’t strip away the patina?
