MillerKnoll Reports Strong Q4, Navigates Tariffs
MillerKnoll, Inc. recently released its fourth-quarter and fiscal 2025 results, showing net sales up 8.2% year-over-year to $961.8 million and orders up 11.1%. The company’s gross margin saw a slight decrease, primarily due to approximately $7.0 million in tariff-related cost increases during the quarter, though this was partially offset by higher sales. Despite these challenges, MillerKnoll opened four new retail stores in fiscal 2025, including Design Within Reach locations in Palm Springs, CA, and Paramus, NJ, and Herman Miller stores in Fairfax, VA, and Coral Gables, FL. This highlights the company’s continued growth and strategic expansion amidst economic pressures.

Fun Fact
Ever wonder how far back our love for furniture goes? Well, archaeological research suggests that around 30,000 years ago, during the late Paleolithic or early Neolithic period, humans started constructing and carving their own furniture! One of the most fascinating early examples comes from Skara Brae in Scotland, a Neolithic village where, due to a lack of wood, inhabitants built entire sets of furniture—including cupboards, dressers, and beds—entirely out of stone, some dating back to 3180-2500 BCE. Talk about durable design! This ingenuity of using readily available materials (stone) in ancient times mirrors today’s focus on sustainable and innovative materials due to resource scarcity or environmental consciousness, highlighting how material innovation has always been a core part of furniture design.
